  • Peavey Heritage VTX

I have a Peavey Heritage VTX (130 watt) and it has developed a fuzzy sound, does this mean I need new tubes, the ones in there look really old, this is my first tube amp, so any help would be good, also what tubes should I put in there?

Possibly, possibly not. If the tubes are ancient, it won;t hurt the amp to have nice fresh ones. It uses 6L6s, and I don't think it matter much what brand you use. This power amp stage will be loud and clean, the tone is in the preamp. Eveything else but the power tubes is solid state in this amp.

I think the Ruby 6L6GCSTR tubes are good for this amp - sturdy tubes. But SOvteks or other favorites will work fine.

Connect the amp chassis to a different speaker to see what it sounds like, your old speakers could be getting ratty.
