Hi everyone,
I've recently got my hands on a 1970s Sola Sound Tone Bender. While inspecting the circuit board, I noticed that the germanium transistors look noticeably different from any other examples I have seen online.
Does anyone know if these are original (especially the golden transistors), or later replacements? The pedal works (although a bit noisy) and sounds great, I'm more curious to find out about the pedal's history.
Here's what I've managed to gather:
- The previous owner is not aware of any replacements
- The black Mullard OA5 is a germanium diode. A glass diode was more common here, but I have seen Mullards in this place in a Vox Tone Bender MK3
- The TFK AC122 is a Telefunken transistor
- I couldn't see any obvious signs on the back that the solder was re-worked
- Back of the PCB has a number: MD1052b
- Knobs are my additions, the original ones were missing
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
