  • ipad issues?

Recently been given an ipad air, was wiped/ refreshed for me.. fine at first but noticed it getting slower & slower, last pm grinding almost toal halt. For eg youtube docs I watch a fair few, now only a few secs then the roundy roundy thing buffering for 1min.. IE almost stopped. Even google takes 15 secs to load.

Im new to the layout, wondering 1stly if maybe Ive got multiple windows open inadvertantly (do see alot of similar safari homepages, when I click twice on the mystery white button btm of screen).

Can someone run me through checking these (I cant see how to 'x' close any of them) and if poss help be un-constipate it?

    thx SC

All of the slowness you mention is internet lag, not necessarily app or iPad slowness. How’s your WiFi strength? Any other WiFi devices to compare with?

to close apps, double click the home button to see the app switcher, then swipe each app upward to close.

If my laptop copes, but ipad does the roundy buff thing tho-?

I can't really tell strength tbh- I cant click on the tiny strength symbol, only a shrew could. I'll try the swipey thing tho. cheers.

xtian hi thanks, Ive done your swipe thing, had about 30 reduced to 2 the safari I have open & an apple podcast page.. as I don't want to lose this/ v. good.

What also I need to know/ cant see how, is to 'save' a page like these two for eg into a 'favourites' place, or 'bookmark' it.. so I can save/ dip in/ refer back to it.

At the mo, I have the doc open & playing altho I dont want it to play, bc I cant see anyway of saving it (or even stopping it tbh: I know only how to pause it).

                No.

But, have you updated to the latest iOS? https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204204

Also, you'll certainly find many more people willing to help on Apple's Support forums.

Surely 'fun with computers' section on an electronics forum, is a good place to ask for help.. and an ipad a very common device too?

Registering xyz new just to ask a Q.. is a bore.

Can't you offer any help though, I mean is it too much to ask? anyone? What I find, just as I said in the OP, is that the ipad seems constipated. It buffers infuriatingly,eg just an apple podcast (so the lightest 'load' i can think of, not even moving video).. its impossible to listen to any 15m episode. It won't even start now.

The ipad 'bars' of signal is 2/3.. so nothing suggesting any super-poor connection.

So I try my laptop, same time as my ipad, same episode. One next to the other, right now playing behind me typing. It plays perfectly, not one glitch in the 15mins. 9 tabs open too. Full bars of signal on laptop (now 4/5 but still running fine).

So I've ruled out the signal from the hub/ or the X sending the signal to it/ as cause (haven't I?) that you said fairly certainly afaict is the reason for the prob.

This is the very point of the thread, bc this is exactly what I thought was happening. PC fully fine, ipad barely works.

                    thx
