  • 2000 Gibson SG Standard

Wraparound Bridge and no crown logo on the front of headstock is making this hard to ID. Not seeing anything similar to compare to online. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks. Click image for larger version

I don't see one in the picture, but I'll ask anyway. Is there a serial number on the headstock? (or anywhere else?)

Yes, there is a 9 digit serial number on back of headstock.

Gibson went to 9 digit numbers in 2005, yet this looks older. Maybe a custom shop thing? Maybe a fake? I'm not sure.

        Maybe this will help?

You can also put the serial # in a google search, see how many have that same number. I would expect a crown but who knows. That being said, i do see nibs, so older fakes didn't have them. But the fakes have caught up, even using nashville bridges now instead of epi sized posts.

Made an error, decoder shows it being a 2006. I'm not seeing any year SG Standard though that has no crown inlay and a wraparound bridge online . See some SG Specials with wraparound bridge's but not Standard's.

This guitar has been baffling me, so I've been hunting the web. I cannot find any SG with all of the features this one has in the same guitar. It's certainly an odd duck.

              1)Full face pickguard (63-70)
              2) Serial number (2005+)
              3) Humbuckers + wraparound bridge (wraparound bridge guitars had soap bars)
              4) Trapezoid inlays, but no Crown
              5) Similar to Goddess, but 4 knobs instead of 2 and no "Goddess" on truss rod cover.
              6) Etc.

This whole guitar is a contradiction. Maybe it was built from parts? I don't know what it is exactly, but if you find out, please let us know.

Might be an SG Special converted to humbuckers.
How does it look below the pickguard?

Also, some Pete Townsend Signature had no crown and wraparound, but pickups and year is wrong. (edit: and trapezoid)

I'm often wrong, so not preaching the gospel here, but don't all of the Specials have dot inlays?

Does it have a set neck? Pictures don't show. I know, it seems like a dumb question, but anything is possible with this guitar.

Wasn't able to get anything like you were saying by putting in serial number on Google search.
