  • Polish for Nitro

I am looking for a polish that is safe for a Nitrocellulose finish. Guitar is a
PRS Sunburst 22. PRS does not recommend their polish for this finish.
    Anyone have any advice? Thanks.

Gibson or Martin Guitar Polish. Both companies use nitro. These polishes are silicone-free.

I have always had good luck with Dunlop 65 polish. All my instruments are nitro lacquer finishes.

Virtuoso cleaner and polish works great on Nitro finishes. I discovered it on mylespaul.com some time ago and have never used anything else. Here's the thread I found.

          car polish!

I bought a 1960 LP Junior that was filthy. I used car polish on it and it worked great. It cleaned all the years of greasy crap off it and left it with a perfect nitro finish...

With that said, I use a good guitar polish (Dr. Stringfellow) on it since it's been cleaned

Meguires Car Polish is great and no Silicons. I have used their products for years , especially for vintage guitars with Nitro finishes. I have also done touchups on guitars that I have previously used Meguires on . The have a numbered system on the ones I use. I use #1 on real dirty ones. But usually # 2 followed by number #3. Then # 3 for follow ups. It is also much cheaper than Guitar Polish.

They do have some newer, high tech products that I would only use on my Car.

Here are the ones I use.
