  • Yamaha pickups wires

    Hello,
I have decided to rewire my first electric yamaha guitar 8-).

This guitar has 2 humbuckers and one single coil pickup.

I have not kept any notes when I desoldered them because there was a mess, so I could wire all of them from the start (I am planning to chance the pots and switch also).

I want to have the humbuckers coil-splitted on the possisions 2 and 4 like the way it worked originally.

I now see the wires that come out from the pickups and get a little bit confused. The humbuckers has two coloured wires and one ground (bare). How am I supposed to tell how am I gonna solder them into pots and switch?

I have two theories based on what I found searching. Either the two coloured wires are the hot for each of the coils (north and south) and that the bare wire works for both OR that the bare wire goes to ground, one of the wires is the hot, for when it is operating like a normal humbucker and the other is at the connection between the two coils.

Witch of these are right and where should I solder these wires on volume pot and switch for both neck and bridge pickups?

Note that my guitar has 1 vol & 1 tone pots.

    Thanx
