Hey there. Modifying a Korean-Fender-Guild-DeArmond Sevenstar into something that might closely resemble a 60's Guild Thunderbird guitar. For my pleasure only. I'm not trying to hoodwink someone into buying a fake. I'm doing the mod, so that it may become No.1 in my "quiver" (2 Matsumoku Washburn Hawks, neck-through, 1 modded, 1 pristine; Ft. Worth (Jap) Charvel '89 Model 3, stock; present No.1, '04 Korean Parker P-38, bolt-on, heavily modded (replaced Parker/Cort pups with a S/D SH4 JB at the bridge and 2, S/D Classic Stacks (s/c), 3 micros to split coil in each pup, 500k pots for the 250ks, Sperzel locking tuners, Tremel-No [google it. Gives two more hardpoints for tremelo tone, sustain]). With the piezos, I have 17 variations to choose from.
So the Sevenstar was a small disappointment, as a Dearmond I thought I'd be able to split the coils, but alas, two-conductor, and I don't have the reps to DYI-it. So, the project has slowed to a crawl as the purchase of a pair of pups is unfunded, at present.
Photo is out of focus a bit, so that if I laid the parts on the unstrung guitar, I'd get an idea what the finished mod would look like. I'm adding another switch between the pup sw and the BR pup, for a phase switch. 3-switch cluster; BR pup, coil tap; N pup, coil tap; killswitch. I'm interested in getting a wiring diagram from the original Thunderbird, to see if Guild didn't have something else, "under the hood". Thanks in advance
