Floyd rose nut install question.

Hello,

I am installing a floyd rose nut on a new guitar neck. Its a Warmoth, so everything is routed and the holes are drilled. The nut arrived today and one of the washers for the through-neck screws is missing. Im just wondering how important these washers are? Do I really need these them, or can I do without them?

The washers will prevent the nut on the back from biting into the timber, and will give a much more even contact surface for tightening. Washers are cheap, and easily replaced. Take the other one down to the local hardware store, and if they don't have the exact one, they'll probably be able to tell you where to get one. Welcome to the forum.

I appreciate the response Brock. I was able to find comparable washers at a hardware store yesterday. I can't believe I didn't have to order them over the internet.

You need to limit the radial stress on the wood, which the washers will do, and get the screws to give primarily axial tension. The nut removes a ton of material and anything that helps avoid a peg head break is good
