  • Hagstrom archtop with Framus pickups

Here's an interesting vintage piece. The current owner was given this guitar in 1962. He asked me to clean it up and I thought I would post some pics and ask if anyone knows about these Framus pickups. I believe these were added after the fact, but I can't seem to find much about this particular Hagstrom. On the truss rod cover it says "Koncert" and I'm assuming it was made in the
'50s but that's all I know. If anyone can shed some light on this one I would appreciate it. btw the pickups still sound great and the jazz box is one of the loudest I've heard! Huge.

I forgot to mention that the massive steel pickguard actually acts as a reverb plate. Not sure if that was intentional but it sure is cool!

I have a very similar set up to this in a drawer but that is Hofner not Framus. Most of the German stuff from the 50/s and 60/s was made by the Ideal company in Berlin and they just put whoevers name on them

      ....

What a fucking cool guitar, the pickups and pick guard are obviously made for the guitar, a real beauty.....

I love the bridge on this thing. the saddles remind me of jumper pins on 3 1/2" hard drives! They pop out and can be slotted closer or further from the nut.

Here you go Starry, had a look last night. They come in about 2/3 down the page. The pickups were Ideal, and that bridge is a Hofner and still available.

Thanks! It seems this guitar was built before the Konsert model came with routed in pickups. I'm guessing mid 50s.
