  • Brown and Sharpe #1 hand screw machine for sale

On Sunday 20 September at a hamfest in a parking garage at MIT in Cambridge, Mass, I met an old machinist selling a Brown and Sharpe #1 hand screw machine, which sounds suitable for making slugs and screws and the like in pickup-maker sized batches. I have not seen this machine, but it sounded like something pickup makers might be interested in, so I volunteered to post this For Sale message.

The machine isn't very large in volume, but does weigh about 1000 pounds.

Power is three phase 220 volt, but it comes with a rotary phase converter that will convert from single phase (house power) to three phase. The rotary converter weighs about 150 pounds.

The price is $500 for the screw machine and $100 for the converter, for a total of $600, delivery not included.

The machine is located in South Weymouth, MA, which is a southern suburb of Boston.

The machine is completely mechanical, and is intended to be set up and run by a machinist.

Thanks for posting that Joe. It's a great deal but I wish it wasn't 3000 miles away.

Isn't that how it always works?
