  • Mini Bucker Bobbin

    Hello,

I just got samples of some mini bucker parts. The bobbin seems wrong to me. Too high I think. I'm getting .320'' inside height and 2.255'' inside length. That can't be right. Aren't they supposed to be more like .290'' inside height? Can anyone verify which is vintage correct? I would hate to invest in thousands of bobbins that are off spec. Thanks for any info.

    David,

I have some broken mini's around here somewhere. I'll try to find them and take some measurements.

Any word on the aged white bobbins? I never received a response to my direct e-mail.

      Hi Skinny

David told me that they should be available next month.

David, do the bobbins have a slot in the middle, or pole piece holes?

A slot would be most handy! Personally as long as they fit into a cover, I don't care about vintage correct. The added height would be good for winding hotter pickups, or experimenting with larger wire gauges.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

I'm with Dave, they don't have to be vintage perfect for me. And I like the idea of some extra vertical space for more wire.

            Thanks guys,

I could carry both this bobbin and a vintage correct one if I can find it. I still need to source screws. Looks like I might just have them custom made because the sample screws I got are not that great. They work but that's not good enough. Hopefully I can nail these parts down before the end of the year. It takes forever it seems to get things right!

Skinny..... Which email address did you contact me through? Or better yet what email address should I search in my archives? I would hate to know I didn't reply to someone. I archive everything. Let me know.

I send to this address: david - AT - mojotone - DOT - com

Figured maybe I asked too many questions, which I tend to do.

              I'll forward what I sent.

Any time frame on getting mini parts in? I need to build some more sets and would like to get the parts from Mojotone.

Unfortunately it won't happen as quickly as I would like. However the parts will be as good as I can find at a competitive price. I hope to wrap this up by the end of the year. I wish I had more time to spend soley on mini bucker parts but I have to tend to multiple irons in the fire right now. I am working diligently to have this done right. I will definately keep everyone informed. Thanks for all of the great response and support!

Posting email addresses on an open forum is NOT A VERY NICE THING TO DO to someone. Skinny can you edit it so that junk mail harvesters don't ruin David's business?

I should have caught that. I fixed it.

DAVE POSTED IT IN A PREVIOUS THREAD, so I just copied it. I see David handled it for me. It's in the GJ thread if you want to fix it there too.

What about some taller regular humbucker bobbins? GJ used to sell some 49.2's that had 7mm vertical space but not anymore. I miss those and could use some that tall and a touch taller.

                            Cool new stuff

                            Hello,

I just got those aged white and white humbucker bobbins as well as open humbucker covers, zinc and unplated Tele baseplates, single coil pickup springs, and several other goodies too. I hope you enjoy. Thanks.

Dave, do you have the #2 1/2" brass screws that attach the humbucker plate to the bobbins? I placed an order yesterday and couldn't find them on your site.
