He started doing it because he was getting divorced and had to "hide" his money. So he bought LPs figuring they would increase in value.

Three of the guitars in the back he built, except the bullseye Charvel.

If you look at the curves on a few of the Pauls, they are all wrong. The story is that when Gibson was bought from Norlin, they didn't get any of the patterns (I think the guys at Heritage have them) and they had to use photographs and a lucigraph to get the shape, which became distorted!

The top carves are all over the place too.

Bad investment :-) I've noticed there are TONS of Gibson Historics on Ebay, probably hard to get your money back out of those things. The Explorer neck on that one grates on my nerves

He said the prices have gone up since he started buying them, so who knows.

Yeah, he bought the Aldo Nova guitar just because it's pretty rare. Only about 10 to 12 were made.

Cheap Trick is a great band! I like Bo too. I listen to just about everything, except country and opera.

Well check out Vince Gill, Brad Paisley and Brent Mason on YouTube. Those guys keep the shred country tele picken' thing alive. Most country now days is more like pop rock than country. I grew up when country was real, Carter Sisters, Buck Owens, and Johhny Cash, they had these hayride TV shows and I was just learning my first 3 chords on a Mexican acoustic guitar and would play along, I love that old country stuff. Loved those old glam cowboy rhinestone outfits and flash guitars with their names inlaid, man that shit was cool...

Oh I like the country guitarists just fine, and the old stuff like Patsy Cline. The guitarists are great! I do like Vince Gill and Brad Paisley. Albert Lee is great too. I like all the chicken pickin', I just don't like the songs. I also love pedal steel guitar. I've been trying to find a way to use steel guitar in non country music for years!

Here's a pic of the backs of the original pickups in my '67 SG Special. Note that the backplate doesn't have the recessed mounting flanges as on the reissue.

Interesting, so there WERE special base plates made at one time....

Those are the same baseplates on the P-90's from an SG that I had.
