  • How big (or small) to make your holes in forbon?

I'm going to mess around with forbon for a while tommorow and I wonder if anyone has any recommendations for how much undersized holes in forbon should be. Say for arguement sake im using the standard 0.1875" slug.. How small should I make it?

I'll be working with a laser, not a punch. I cant remember the exact tolerances, but I recall it being 0.001 or 0.0005.

We cut our flats with 4,8mm dia for 5mm rods and 4,6mm for 4,8mm rods. We had no complaints so far from foreign customers using 0.1875" rods. May be you use 4,55mm if
you go for a tighter fit.

With the laser it's so easy to blast out a sample of hole sizes and see which one fits best. I think you want something just tighter than a slip fit. My drills are .186" and get me a perfect fit 99% of the time.
