Moskowitz' Permanent Magnet Design and Application Handbook.
Last revised in 1998, the book is understandably dated.
This book, ISBN-10: 0894647687, is insanely priced at ~$200 from
Krieger Publishing which puts it out of reach of the average Joe. Even so,
it was frequently quoted and referenced, and it was with considerable
consternation that I got one in 2003.
I did it so you guys won't have to.
-drh"Det var helt Texas" is written Nowegian meaning "that's totally Texas." When spoken, it means "that's crazy."

thats misleading- obviously you can use gauss readings as a comparison of two magnets made of the same material- the same size.
Given everything else is the same in a pickup variations is gauss level will effect inductance.
An uncharged magnet reading 0 gauss has less performance in a pickup than the same magnet reading 1200 gauss.
