  • tele polarity NORTH or SOUTH !!!! quite the confusion

i have done some searches & i have come up with both north & south polarity in the bridge & neck pickup. is there a standard now that fender uses ?. i have a customer who wants a hot bridge pickup to go along with his stock US fender neck pickup im was thinking it should be north up

    Good old Fender eh?

You could ask him to test the polarities of the existing pickups with a compass and go from there.

That's what I do when I have to make a replacement within an existing set. but you'd better ask for a picture of the compass in front of the pickup because things may be quite confusing when it comes to polarity ("north pole" or "north seeking pole" ?, earth magnetic pole being actually a south pole etc... kind of thing).

About what Fender is using now, the only thing I can say is that I've had recently a 2004 or so US Tele for which I did a replacement set and both pups were north up.
