  • But, there was that BIG asteroid... BBC News - Giant asteroid passes near Earth

WOW! $147 usd for an outlet? That must be for use in beach houses with all that salt air wafting in through the patio doors. A copper-to-copper connection would work better for sake of conductivity.

Yes there was. That article mentions that Arecibo Observatory was able to track it and use the S band radar. Almost not. The day before we had the biggest rain and lightening storm in years (and that is very big!) The lightening took out several receivers and some of the control systems, and the rain flooded the area under the dish to a higher level than in decades. Many inches of rain, with five of them in just two hours. This lead to the possibly amusing sight (at least in other contexts) where someone had to drive a front end loader into several feet of water carrying a receiver cooling compressor in the shovel so it could be hauled up 450 feet to the platform.

        Out of context!

        Let's get the full quote:

By the way, these are the same people who put paper in oil caps in their guitars. it's true.

Now I rest my case (of snake oil).
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

        • I hope (in my lifetime) we can capture a monster like that in Earth's gravity and use it to build interstellar spacecraft or a space elevator or a power station or all of the above.

          Sorry, I'm way off topic.
