Another topic: any of those humbucking-in-single-coil designs can allow you to get close to the tone of a single-coil... but no cigar.
There's a basic but overlooked element: the behaviour of the p'up.
A real single-coil is snappy, lively and has a very wide range of transient dynamics produced by the pick attack.
The intrinsec design of two coils canceling each other gives the p'up a completely different behaviour, the dynamic range is reduced due to the canceling.
So, this element alone is enough to come to the following conclusion: no HB p'up sounds like a real single coil. No stacked coils, no side-by-side coils in single-coil format. Not now, not ever.
Now if you please can show me where I can hear any p'ups made with the design you've shown us. My curiosity's been piqued!Pepe aka Lt. Kojak

sorry but i didnt find any pickup like that for now its a japanise invator Jarno Johannes SALO the patent is 9 .8. 2011 so not yet, i personaly build somting close to it and it sound close to single coile i think kinman is the only one that come close to the single coil Transient and this Likely will sound better +what the Cancellations do if its not on the same string?

I see in the design ,they use smaller magnets which bridges some cancellation/phase issues where the coils meet
I have read that there was issues with the basic 3 magnet per side design in the neck & middle position ...Last edited by copperheadroads; 08-28-2012, 04:16 PM."UP here in the Canada we shoot things we don't understand"

HTH,
If you keep the coils low wound, you can get some pretty decent strat tones.
Those in the patent, looked like Hell to make.
A lot more work than I want to do.
