Bad signal Cant figure out low Output

Okay I swapped some PUPs out and I may have put excessive heat on the Volume POTs. Im a noobie so Im fuzzy on the wiring. Can someone look at my wiring to see if its correct? The problem Im having is the bridge PUP is really low. Even though its a 16K PUP its very low with my Deluxe Reverb on 10.


One other question. To test my POT with a Multimeter do I have to disconnect the PUP or anything else?

Another note. If I switch to my bridge output only I get a increase in volume(slight) when I turn up my Neck volume.

I tested my Input signal off the Jack and thats good. I also know this because m neck PUP is working fine. I can rule out the Tone Caps and POTs because I never put heat on them. I am assuming the switch works because it seems to switch between PUPs as its supposed to. And its not the Bridge PUP because not only did I check the Resistance on it its the second one I now swapped out with the same problem.

It has to be a wiring thing or the Bridge POT.

The photos pretty out of focus, try soldering the the bridge pickup direct to the jack socket and see if you get a good signal. Take the photo with some light in the room.

Im sorry I literally took over 30 pics. My camera is horrible.Thats why I did the paint schemo. I did an aliigator clip from the bridge to the Volume POT. If I clip it to the terminal that the PUP is soldiered to on the POT I get a Goog signal. The middle terminal is the weak signal. But If I do the same thing on the Neck PUP and POT the PUP terminal is good and the middle is good and volume taper functions. Bridge Volume POt must be bad right?

Do I have to disconnect anything from the POT to test it?

And why are my TONE caps wired like the Schemo I did? Most Les Paul wiring I see online shows the Cap going from the Volume POTs middle terminal to the Tone POTs middle terminal. My caps go from the Tone POT middle Terminal to the POT case?

This brings me an opportunity to pass on a major tip; anytime you have an option to ground one side of a cap in a high impedance circuit, do. I can't tell you how many times I've drastically reduced the buzz in Gibson wiring harnesses by losing the idiotic "cap from pot to pot" business. How many years did they do that??

If you have plenty of light when you take the photos you can use a faster shutter speed and hence no blurring/focus problems. Regarding the pickups try swapping the bridge and neck wires and see if the Neck goes quiet, if so you can be pretty sure its a bad pot. A squirt of contact cleaner sometimes does the trick. I had a similar guitar a couple of days ago an Epiphone Les Paul brought in for a restring and intonation set up, and I noticed the neck pup was very low and sometimes not working at all, turned out to be an almost non existant solder joint. Funny thing was the customer thought it was supposed to be like that because that's how it was from new ! Good luck.

Since I will be removing the PUP wire leads from the POT again is this the proper way to test the resistance with a multimeter?

It's always best to check dc resistance out of circuit,(not connected to anything) also if the humbuker has a cover check readings from that,sometimes pup leadouts can cet pinched between cover and baseplate.

Two things. Check to see if any of the shielded cable was over heated when soldering, and had the shield melt through and touch the center conductor.

Second, when you take close up photos, you have to set the camera into macro mode. It looks like a little flower on the buttons. This allows the camera to focus on closer objects.
