Would anybody happen to have any idea what alloy the Gibson Dirty Fingers fillister screws are made from?
The Dirty Fingers is a high DCR triple ceramic magnet humbucker

    Thanks
    Rob.

The right answer is: WHATEVER they had in the parts bin that day.

Do you really think Gibson EVER ordered screws to spec for a certain p'up? NOT A FRIGGING CHANCE IN HELL!

I have a 1978 DF, the screws are the same as a broken T-Top from 1981.

What alloy were they made of? I guess nobody will ever known for certain, specially Gibson itself.

BTW, you worry too much 'bout minutiae. In the end, you'll end up making it with the parts there are available to you, isn't it?

Being a ceramic, I'd go with 1018 screws and I'd try some 1215 as well.

Last, but not least, actual DFs are nothing like the old ones, but I don't care as I hate'em with a passion. Both of them.

Problem is that I have a customer that has his 2 favorite DF pickups. Some time ago he replaced the factory fillister screws on one of them with hex head screws and no longer has the original screws, now he wants me to replace the hex screws with fillister screws from my stock.
I tried 1010, 1018, 12L14, 1215 and none have the bite that the originals have. I swapped the original screws from the other DF pickup he has and it's a perfect match to both our ears. I am trying to order 1022's from Addiction-FX but they're not responding.

Whatever screws the DF came with have a very hard biting sound to them and I've not been able to match it with what I have.
I've tried both new screws and and old screws from various Gibson pickups I have and I still cant match it.

I'm hoping they're 1022 as it's the only other common screw I don't know if I've tried yet.
Of course if the new 1022 is Chinese and the originals were not then there's no way I'm ever going to match it.

Were the screws full length or are the original ones shorter?

Take one row of screws of the other pickup, fill the empty spaces with the ones you've got, set up the highs a notch and call it a day...?

That has crossed my mind many times ...... but alas, he is a paying customer.

                      Thanks Lt

If you want to try the 1022s?
Mojo sells them but I think only in gold.
You might email Tom and see if they have something laying around, not in the catalog?
Tom is real good at working with us, also I would tell him of your dilemma, and see what he suggests?

Thanks Terry, believe it or not Addiction-FX just sent me the invoice for the stuff I ordered.... so fingers crossed for a speedy delivery.
If it takes too long I'll call Tom. I need stuff from Mojo anyhow!
                          Thanks.

1022 was never used by Gibson, Dirty Fingers would be the same as TTop pole screws probably. For about $40 you can them destructively analyzed, problem is that no one makes the right alloy pole screws for TTops that I know of, you'd have to make them yourself or buy 5,000 of them, the usual minimum. I had some made about 8 years ago, send me your address and I'll send you handfull to try out, I almost never use them here....

Thanks for the information and the offer Dave. I have a friend who owns a shop and I do his pickup repairs. He's got a bunch of T-Tops in various states of dis-repair. I'll get a couple of sets of screws from him and try them out in the DF.

                              Thanks again
