  • Gibson 498R Pickup Specs.

      There's no 498R.

The 498T comes paired with the 490R, aka the "dread set".

      There's the 496R, though.

Are we sure of that? If I do a Google search there are a lot of places that "498R" shows up on forums and what-not. Can all of these people be wrong? I see the 498R being paired with the 500T and the 490T. Of course if I go to the Gibson site, there is no such pickup for sale.

Also there was this listing on eBay from last year: Gibson 498T & 498R Pickups from 2009 Gibson SG Standard | eBay

I went ahead and emailed Gibson customer service to ask if such a model number exists. I've had mixed luck when emailing Gibson customer service in the past. Sometimes they answer right away and other times they ignore you. So we'll see.
