  • Will AL5 degaussed sound similar to AL2 full charged?

Or is it at least in the that direction.

    IMO, No!
    They have different tonal Qualities.
The best A2s I've used were the A2 Bars from Shea, at Magnetic Hold.

        It's been a while since I tried a degaussed A5 but
I find the A2 A little sweeter sounding & I find the degaussed A5 a little brighter & not quite so spongy

So an A5 will always be an A5 as far as tone, just lower output when degaussed?

Degaussing an A5 diminishes the highs, but not the lows.

It'll never sound like an A2.

It still has a good deal more bite than A2, no matter what.

The metal content of each formula of alnico types is different so that affects the sound due to varying eddy currents among other things. A5 will never sound like A2 and neither will sound like A6 either for example.
