  • 3 wire pickups..

Removed a pickup from and ibanez yesterday , one red wire one white and a green to earth....anyone know how they are hooked up inside?

I want to replace it with a 4 conductor pickup..so how would this be hooked up in place of the 3..? only 2 terminals left on the 5 way which is where the red and the white from the ibanez pickup were soldered

    Thanks

The Ibanez standard is white as hot and red as coil tap.

sounds like the red and white are the hot wires from the two coils. If you change it to 4 conductor, you will have two ground wires and two hot wires (one from each coil). This site might be of some help.

What are the DC resistances between all pairs of wires?
