    Gittler Guitar |

No doubt we'll get months of pleasure surmising what the pickups are before anyone finds out for sure.
I wonder if someone here knows already.

Don't forget to revisit this classic thread:

What we look for is high output and low microphonics, low noise, very low hum.
But still preserve the frequency response.
And we need the hardware, screw holes, dimensions, to match the original.

If your Gittler can do all that, then I would try it.

No pricing stated on the site. The original Gittler would have run ~$2500 in modern bucks.
That may not be the price point they have in mind.

As I understand it, the pickups were completely redesigned for minimal crosstalk between strings to accomodate the MIDI section.

The world’s first and only guitar with 6 discrete transducers.
That's not true! I had a Sekovia guitar with a pickup for each string that was made back in the 60s. And the first Bartolini Hi-A pickups were hexaphonic.

I always wanted one of these Gittlers.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

And I built a Travis Bean with Bartolini Hi A discreet hexaphonic outputs, more than 20 years ago.
          Confirmed, folks.

..magnetically shielded for a high degree of isolation from crosstalk.
Good string isolation is in the range of 48 to 50dB. Focusing the magnetic field to not detect the adjacent strings minimizes false triggers but is more difficult the farther away you get from the bridge, where near-bridge string vibrations are more constrained and can remain focused over tiny pole pieces better for better isolation.

Why do I suspect that the price point assures that there will be as many new Gittlers sold as were original Gittlers?

The way the web site is set up, it looks like they won't tell you the price until you commit to buying one.

                FAQ
“I don’t see pricing anywhere, how much does this guitar cost?”

Final cost estimates are still being analyzed. For the moment a MSRP has not been determined, but please check back during the month of December 2012 for updated MSRP information. For now, let’s just say “halfway between the gutter and the stars.”
