Thicker insulation does sound different. It's pretty obvious too. It's a similar tone to slightly thicker wire.
Getting back to the photo of the spool. The printed number is what the wire is supposed to be. The hand written number is the actual size of the wire. Elektrisola always have that written on the spools, and probably other wire vendors too.It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein
