Ironic since the malware is coming from Google ads.

You think they would screen them first.

It forces You to switch off the check. Maybe that's what is actually desired?
No protection against malware analysing the local hard disks of the user (that was an officially announced idea of Google a few years ago).

As much of a annoying pain in the butt that it is, no switching off of malware checkers happening here anytime soon.
