I use Acetone & I have found my wife's nail polish remover to be quite diluted as well
I will have to investigate the dollar store selection

I buy acetone from the Home Depot down the street. But my wife was buying nail polish remover for her nails. The kind she bought was based on her preferences, not mine.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

So what kind do you use? (just kidding)

Too funny, when I read that line I had this weird flash/visual of you winding pickups with nail polish on your fingernails.
