My babysitter ran over my 14 month old head and left me there to die in the middle of road. I am legally blind in my right eye and as a result see about as good as peripheral in that eye. I cannot drive a van to the airport for my hotel but for 8 years I did and I never had a ticket or any accidents. All of a sudden homeland security makes more regulations and I am not allowed to drive the van to the airport. Oh well their loss of a good driver and especially compared to 60% of the idiot drivers at the airport anyway. I am just thankful I did not die an infant.

In my late teens and through my 20's I had the worst case of carpal tunnel syndrome ever. All those computer programming courses and typing at a keyboard in college was to blame. I remember times that I was playing guitar in long jams where my fingers would start to tingle and my arm fell asleep. I just kept playing like a total fool in love with jamming. Now in my 30's all that is in the past and I feel better than ever. Strange how we get use to pain and then sometimes pain just goes away. I had way worse back problems in my 20's and all this stuff. What is strange is that in my 20's I felt like crap on a regular basis, but today I feel better. I have a lazy right eye due to my accident and sometimes get bad headaches as my good eye strains. Sometimes now I am seeing double vision but it is not that bad.

I think diet is the key and I have boycotted fast food for over 10 years now. I cook at home and eat out at only places that have quality food. Spend your money on good food and don't buy into the idea that the dollar menu will benefit your body in any way. Working on electronics has been a new thing for me that motivates me to spend less and less time on the couch. I stand and work on my feet for 8 hours at work and then get home to head off into my shop. Then spend 4 hours working on electronics instead of TV. I watch about 2 hours of TV a week these days and add in countless hours at my chair online here. Disabled I am not but thankful for a turn around I am. Everyone hurts in some way, but I know that disabilities are different than average chronic pain.

About two years ago I finally accepted my Uncle's advice to try neurological treatment by way of Brainstate. My uncle has a company called Optimind that uses computers and tone algorithms to help the brain reach homeostasis. I went for a week of treatment with him and in the end felt even better than ever. You see the brain suffers from trauma's and as a reaction to trauma the brain will change in the way the chemistry works. I spent two years avoiding his offer for treatment fearing that maybe it was a sort of brainwashing experiment etc etc etc. However, getting my head ran over by a car put me in my uncle's radar as a candidate for this treatment. Basically, the treatment helps your brain see itself like a mirror image and the treatments help correct brain wave imbalances. Immediately after treatments I started swimming laps in the pool and felt completely different. I still feel the effects today. They use this treatment more and more today for war vets with PTSD. I wish all the VETS could get this treatment for free on insurance, because it has helped the ones that got it. More and more vets are committing suicide than ever before, more VETS committed suicide this year than on casualties of the battlefield. That is scary stuff and very sad too. Well I will stop babbling on here, but please read up on this technology. I swear that the body can feel better by helping to create better brain chemistry. It is like a way of allowing your brain to be balanced again. Some may not realize that I am speaking here in truth, but anyone who experiences this treatment will know. Go research it... It's a type of neurological biofeedback and is way more advanced than old school biofeedback. It is like technology accepting the notion that your brain and body is capable of self healing. It is not a joke, I swear by it.

It's amazing what the body can adapt to... I fell 65 feet when I was 16, and spent the next 9 months in a body cast. The fall exploded 4 vertebrae, broke my left wrist, and gave me a cracked skull. Over the next 15 years I suffered constant back pain, until eventually it became the new normal for me. I no longer perceive it as pain, it's more like fatigue. Now, 43 years later, I'm doing fine.

I was lucky - I'm still able to do everyday activities with no problem. Sitting for long periods is like slow death, but if I get up and walk around once an hour it's no problem. I also do not have the option of becoming physically unfit - - as soon as my muscle tone in my stomach goes down, the back pain comes back.

I found that the medical establishment suffers from it's own arrogance and ignorance. They tend to take credit for the body healing itself, and rely on pharmaceuticals to hide symptoms rather than finding and fixing the root problem. In general, unless a condition is life threatening, I avoid using medical doctors. Like politicians, they are over-priced and provide little or no return for the money they take. It took me a couple of years to wean myself off the pain killers they encouraged me to become addicted to.

Good for you man! It's definitely NOT ok to be content with staring at a wall for 8hrs a day.
