  • XII Pickup covers - where to find

I've done a search here. I know we've talked about them before... I am trying to locate a few of the 65' electric 12 string pickup covers. Did anyone find a source or old stock? These are the 3X3 black plastic covers. I was not able to refine the search enough to eliminate the numerous returns. I dug though what did come up but did not find what I was looking for. I think we talked about these about 2-3 years ago.

I am working on a personal project and hope to make a set for my next guitar.
    Thanks!

I've never seen any for sale.

Nor have I. Although I did once see an entire pickguard with pickups for sale. It was about $400. I may end up having to make some if I want them bad enough. May be just the nudge to get into casting or vacuum forming. I really rather find some though.

there are some made by WSC but they are not the same exact size as originals so they wouldnt work if you are trying to make an exact retrofit

Thanks Jason. I have sent an inquiry. They don't need to be exact as this won't be going for retrofit. I will post what I find out here when I hear back.

If anyone gets an answer back from WSC, please let me know! Jason, do you have a contact there?

I have not heard back from them. Not even a peep.

If you search them you will find two addresses. One does not lead to much. The better of the two is: wscmusic.com
There is some contact info under "terms and conditions".
I've just created an account via website. It will take some time for it to process. Perhaps after having an account emails will be answered.

They used to sell their parts through GuitarJonesUSA. But they are pretty much out of business, and someone is selling what inventory they have on eBay.

Pickup Parts, Bridges - Guitar items in gj guitarpart shop store on eBay!

I have a contact email from the guy who used to run GuitarJones, and who is at WSC now, and he emailed me some time ago about parts. But now I don't get an answer back.

                WSC's email is: sales@wscmusic.com

Yeah, they have two websites. One is on a subdomain and seems to be old and doesn't quite work right.

Steve Soest used to have some NOS. Smartparts had a whole box of them, but after the owner died the inventory was sold to many different people. Angela Instruments was one of the buyers. Maybe you can see if they have some.

Worse comes to worse, you can use closed P bass pickup covers.

i just saw WSC at the namm show- Alex still works for them
They dont speak english very well which could explain why you dont get an answer if you are looking to get a dialog going other than sell me 20 pieces of XYZ- all except alex that is, he speaks english just fine- so even in person with parts in hand to illustrate what you want it takes a long time to get it across both ways. The man behind the scenes is really sharp and intuitive or he speaks english very well but uses few words, hes not generally accessable though. Hes always welcoming when I see him at namm but generally he sits in the back and lest the counter people take care of it.

It was Alex that I was emailing. We exchanged a few and then I haven't heard back from him. I'll try again.

I have yet to hear from WSC. But I also have not received conformation on the account. I will keep trying.

However: A member here reached out to me and offered a couple of covers for my project. I can't say enough nice things about the transaction we had. I really appreciated him doing this. I have helped out a couple forum members in the past and it's nice to have it come back around. I received the covers just a few moments ago and they are just what I needed!

                          THANK YOU FELLOW FORUM MEMBER!

Here is a link to the project I am working on. I am going to stretch the scale out to 25.5" which will also allow for the possibility of a middle pickup. It's a cross between a "Custom" and a "Jag". (this is a mockup btw)

I really like the concept of that, a Jag with Tetris-block pickups.

Just out of curiosity, are those covers similar to the ones on a Mustang bass?

Here is a pic I found of both which shows the difference.
