  • shipping at Mojo....

Really disappointed that Mojo is no longer using Priority Mail or any USPS services. Only FedX and UPS, so shipping is more expensive and slower. Priority mail had my order here in 2 or 3 days, UPS and Fedx take 5 or 6 days and weekends they don't deliver, if you want it sooner you'll pay $20 or more. I just placed a small order and it won't be here for 7 days.
USPS does a better job and is quicker than FedX or UPS, and cheaper, BUMMER

Yeah it is a bummer Huh? USPS does not ship on Saturday's anymore now either and there is no such thing as Parcel Post anymore... It is now called Standard Post and it is more expensive!! I am really bummed out too, but not just for Mojo. I am bummed out by the whole lot of businesses that are not supporting USPS and the future does not look bright! Still gotta wear

This is bad news indeed... I used to get my orders in 1 day. They are just down the road from me so I guess I now have to drive the hour to pickup my orders or wait 7 days.

Priority mail still shows to be an option, at the Mojo Checkout Cart?

Postal rates just went up and the overseas orders now require all customs forms be interred via computer. This was a major speed bump for me last week until I called USPS and learned how to set up their custom software (PC-only). Now I have parallels and windoze-7 just so I can ship from home again. I wonder if this might have been a setback for other companies that don't use Endicia etc.

Really? I just printing a shipping label for a package to Australia on the USPS website yesterday. I always do my shipping on line, and they have the customs forms and all. I didn't see anything different.

What do you need the Windows software for? I also have Parallels and Windows 7 if needed.

One nice thing is they now offer tracking on international flat rate boxes.

                David,
Right now you only need their software if you are shipping overseas via first class instead of priority mail. Not every customer wants to spend $17 on priority postage for a $15 part and I certainly don't want to spend 40 minutes waiting at the PO for my paper customs forms to be typed into the system by hand which is now the case at my local PO.
I used the online USPS system for years and know it well but it won't let you print first class overseas postage with the customs forms that you can send from home. The PC software will and it's free, no $15 monthly service charge that Endicia etc ding you with.

Dave, I still see priority mail listed:

There have been some changes at Mojo however. Tom is not there anymore, and he said they have David Shepherd back. I sure hope that doesn't impact us pickup makers. Tom was a great guy to work with (Not that David was bad).

Shipping fees used to cost me about $18.00-$24.00 for cabinets from MOJO... now it is averaging $47.00 to $52.00 each.

I emailed this thread to mojotone.
                            This is there response.

Thank you for pointing this thread out to us. We did experience a software glitch that disabled USPS shipping on our site for a brief period of time. The issue has been resolved and customers are able to select USPS if that is the shipping method of their choice. Customers are always welcomed and encouraged to e-mail or call us if there is any question about the services we offer.

Let me know if I can help you with anything else.

                            Kind Regards,

UPS fees have gone up a lot too. Shipping one of my basses across the US, with insurance, cost about $80 a year ago. Now it's over $100. It's not them gouging; shipping companies in particular are getting hit from all directions with increased costs; fuel costs, new taxes, health insurance, Workers Comp, etc., etc. I'm surprised that they haven't increased more than that.

USPS is facing even higher cost increases, and is more restricted in what they can do about it. They are losing money like crazy. USPS has always been taxpayer subsidized, to provide lower rates and wider service than make sense by any normal business economics. But that money is running out fast.

No easy answers. Big Government is winning. We are probably facing a decade of serious inflation. Hopefully it doesn't go insane, and rational thinking becomes fashionable again.
