  • Texas Specials polarity/wind direction..Strat

Anyone know for sure? thought they would be SP/CCW neck and bridge but looking at some on ebay ( assuming they were a proper set ?) they look like they could be wound CW...? Cheers

They should be south up, clockwise wound with rw/rp for the middle.

The ones I've seem lately (plastic bobbins, alnico magnets) appear to be wound the same direction as the others, they attach a Yellow wire to where the Black white wire is normally attached, flip the magnets and call it RW.

        cheese pickups....

the ones I"ve seen look like staggers but if you push the magnets out they are all the same height and the stagger is faked, really cheap junk IMO. they also use 43 guage wire. Its totally unbelievable that these were sold as being what was in SRV's "Number One" guitar when they came out, which is just a gigantic lie, buyer beware.....

I have one of those pickups in my collection too.

Youy know you're old when you can remember new Strats with Forbon bobbins in them, not the cast plastic ones. I have a Strat pull around here from the late '90s, and an Ibanez one from the same time, and the bobbins look exactly alike.

And basses came with flat wound strings! Even Rics!
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein
