  • Grey Flatwork on a '67 Jazz Bass

I had an old '67 Jazz Bass come into the shop today and I checked out the pickups and noticed grey flatwork on the top and bottom. I thought that the switch wasn't until several years later, am I wrong?

Grey 64 and on through the 70s. Black ones still cropped up now and then,

Thanks jonson, i thought i might be wrong. I knew they did grey bottoms then but wasnt sure about tops and bottoms. David it was hand written 6-6-67 in silver marker. It was in bad condition as the guy lived in Hawaii and the moisture had sure took its toll on them.

Jazz Bass, P-Bass, Jazzmaster, all used gray on both sides because they really only have one bobbin die. No reason to make 2 parts when only one is needed.
