hi,
does anyone knows what magnets baggs is using in M1A? i have one of em but without magnets inside. its workin with an old pickup attached to its side



its working but not very well, its very quiet and humming a bit

yep, it is missing. ive found that pic too but I still dont know what kind of magnet is this - neodymium? alnico?

there is empty space for magnet on both sides like this:


is this possible that there are two separeted magnets?

If you had a magnet on each side, you would want them head to head.
Like North/screws/North.
That would make it like a P90.
Then the coil on the bottom would probably be a dummy coil, for hum canceling.
If you have some magnets laying around, or even some rubber refrigerator magnets to test it with?
I would think ceramic magnets would work good.

I'd contact LR Bags directly and see if they can send you a couple of the magnets. They may be having them made in China and may not have any of the magnets available.

You could also just measure the spaces and order similar magnets in grade N35 Neodymium from KJ Magnetics. It's probably something like this:
K&J Magnetics: BX844
or this:
K&J Magnetics: BY044

I agree that a ceramic magnet would probably work fine though you might not like the tone of that either.

Start with the dimensions (which might be metric) and do a search. Ebay is a good possibility.

The coil on th bottom indeed is for canceling huming and it's also vibrating so the pickup is sensitive to the body's resonance. it's awesome and I never met any pickup witch can do the same (I know some of the piezo can do this). And its also cost more than my monthly income... thats why I want to bring it back to life so bad.

Spaces dimensions: 60 x 6 x 4 mm

Why ceramic? On other forums people says that neodymium would be better

Ceramic is easier to trim if you can't find the exact dimension you need.
The closest neo I could find was 30mm x 5mm x 3mm in N50. It's not perfect but 4 of them will get your pickup working again.

Make sure the magnets are magnetized on the edges.
You need the magnet gauss toward the screws.

take a reading if you got a multimeter on the 20k & 200k ohms settings
