Chuck, the GW hatchet was your byline about 2 years ago, and you borrowed it from someone else. I always got a kick out of it.
I think I got that from one of R.G.'s posts. I misquoted the actual phrasing I'm sure. Funny stuff, and on topic.

Even fancy Alembic guitars sell used for pennies on the dollar. That guitar looks heavy.

        Of course, that's the point.

Perceived desirability for the average Joe out there , which is 98% of the Market buying from EBay and similar, does not come from *quality* as we know it but from mojo, magic, fame buying, etc.

The hardboard guitars used by Jack White will definitely sell faster and easier, just because they were used by a fresh "hot player" rather than one who was so a decade or two ago.

Kids follow whoever has the latest hot video and old grumpy guys like us tend to stick to tried and true .

Just out of curiosity I checked a newer Jack White video:

I guess its killer visual impact will create great demand for ... is that a Gretsch guitar? .... and converted late 40's RCA PA amps.

Am I referring to his sound/playing/taste?

No, just plain killer visual attitude.

Sorry but ....... Ronnie ... WHO?

That's a Gretsch Firebird (I think) and first made popular by Malcolm Young of AC/DC. Probably why Jack White owns one. I actually kind of like that vid!?!(hate the tone though ) Glad for that too because I just hate the WS song that's getting too much air on my local station. Thanks for that then.

So... Most of the market appeal of that guitar should be attributed to Malcolm. Who had to bow out of the band for this latest album and tour due to a stroke that left him disabled.

And "Ronnie ... who?" is Ronnie Montrose. Who suffered from long term depression and finally took his own life a few of years ago.

I think you just wrote a couple of checks from your rock n roll karma account Juan

Not that you point isn't valid though. Just clumsy handling of the circumstances.
