  • Measureing wire diameter?

Can someone point me to a (relatively) inexpensive caliper to measure magnet wire?

    Thanks!

    Composite Digital Calipers

Is 0.001" OK for you? For $8.00?
Amazing!! Who would ever have guessed that someone who villified the evil rich people would begin happily accepting their millions in speaking fees!

Oh, wait! That sounds familiar, somehow.

That's no good. The resolution is only two decimal places.

Getting better than that will get more expensive.

Calipers are not accurate enough, even if they claim sufficient resolution. You need a micrometer that is capable of measuring to a ten thousandth of an inch.

Most large cities (in the US anyway) have a few stores that sell used micrometers, and something made 50 years ago by a name brand will work just fine if it wasn't abused too badly.

          And there is always ebay.

And of course new Chinese-made mikes, some of which are perfectly serviceable. One buys these from industrial suppliers like MSC.

But expect to pay at least US $20, with $40 not unlikely for a good one.
