p-90 for resonator for slide

Hi all, My nephew recently asked me to make him a p-90 for fir fender resonator guitar, adn he wants to play slide. I figure I would probably do about 8.5 k with 42 AWG and use A2 or A5. He wants a fairly dark pickup. Any suggestions?
