  • Finding frequency response

Hi all. This will be my first post here. It was exciting to find others with the same interest and goals. I am looking foward to satisfying some curiosities and finding even more things to be interested in. Woo hoo!

I've been winding my own for a while and really find it interesting how subtle differences change the characteristics of pickups, inductance, capacitance, and tone. What I have yet to measure is frequency response.

Does anyone have a good way of finding this value without using a scope? I am not opposed to getting one, would like to start with basic tools first. It would seem that having inductance and capacitance values would be a good start for an equation but I have not found anything yet.

    Cheers, and thanks in advance,
    Magnut

search the forum this subject has been discussed quite alot. There are plenty of free frequency analyzer software apps out there. ....

Thanks, I did do an initial search and did not see it. I will keep digging.

search frequency response charts, graphs, spectrum analyzer. The short answer is I've messed with it myself and found it fun to play with but not very useful in the real world, except when working with a unique pickup design prototype, which is rarely even then. An LCR meter is more useful in day to day use.
