How Bout it Fellow Winders.
The locals have put me to work lately.
I'm rewinding a pair of Dean Humbuckers.
They say USA division on them and the guitar is made in Korea.
It has a big Skull and Cross Bones on it.
The shredder that picked it up used called me late this afternoon.
He Said the Neck P/U just makes this roar and is muddy.
It had 2 14.5k Ceramic pickups in it, both neck and bridge are the same.
They have the great big Ceramic magnets.
The coils were very small, probably 46 Gauge.
I filled up the bridge bobbins with 43SPN.
They are going to be around 15k or so when I get them assembled.
Will work on the neck tomorrow.
What are you guys up too?

Those little Damn Things are Lots of work.
I screwed around a couple afternoons on two of them.
These got more attention than most pickups I make.
These are going in the Multi Thousand Dollar Club Guitar.

Today I sold two Strat (neck & middle) pickups and rewound a grey bottom Jazz Bass bridge pickup (42-PE) but yesterday was great! I spent 5 hours having videos shot of 5 of my guitars for pickup promos. The person that did the production and filming works for Viacom (TV-Land to be exact) It will take him about 8 weeks to do the editing in his spare time and I'll have some very professional videos! Great stuff!

On the mini blade baby bucker's I haven't had the problems with assembly. Mine seem to go together OK. Maybe I am missing something. I tape a lot. No CA. I did get a good reaction a couple of days ago from a customer that was in. He was here for a few hours and tried a couple of my MB3 prototypes I had around installed in my awful strat-ish test guitar and liked them enough to say he would think about ordering one for his strat that he left for me to set up but after he has researched the tone he was after a little more. He likes the idea of a split HB in the bridge of his strat, if the split is single coil sounding enough.www.sonnywalton.com
How many guitars do you need? Just one more.

I did some maintenance on my old winder today. One new bearing and I also polished the guide rods.
Rob.
Should be the next thread down, but here's a link.

I'd really like to start making them. They're one of the few styles of pickups which I don't offer. The builders that I sell to use them quite often.
If I could build them in an affordable manner it would be a big help.
Thanks.

If you don't count your labor.
I make my own blades and that slows me down.
I like straight blades on the mini baby buckers.
The Mojo blades are too curved, and they make them so short, you can't regrind them.
If you want lots of mids, maybe go with the curved blades.
Also I glue the blades to the bobbins, then I glue the bobbins to the baseplate.
Haven't figured any way around that yet.
There are no screws to hold them together.
I like 42 SPN on the neck, or Middle, and 44 SPN on the bridge
I was making all 3 with 43SPN, but now I like the 42, and 44 best.
A SC in the middle works well also.

For testing I just have long wires coming from the coils that hook up to the leads of my tester strat ,I don't solder to any eyelets or glue the pickup together ( I just use a bit of paper tape to hold it together untill I'm satisfied with it .Then glue it & solder up"UP here in the Canada we shoot things we don't understand"
