Copper Foil Tape?

I'd be interested in the effectiveness of the conductive adhesive. I might be inclined to put a solder tab on seams anyhow just in case age affects the adhesives relative goodness in this property.

I must say at this juncture that I've recently started seeing some problems in situations where I used copper tape with allegedly conductive adhesive, both the black & clear stuff. It appears that it can in fact stop conducting after a few years.

And when I think of all the work I've done with it, and all the guitars & basses out there that may be way noisier than they should be, I get a bit angry about having ever trusted that stuff in the first place.

The conductive adhesive is a bonus, the main purpose of the adhesive is so you don't have to mess with glues, and double sided tape.
I would always ground the foil, and spot solder the seams. That is why I wanted Copper, not aluminum, or other metals.
Another purpose of spot soldering the seams, it makes the foil one piece, and helps keep it from peeling off.
I'll let you know how it works, it will take at least a week to get here, using the free shipping, but I'm in no hurry!

Roger THAT, it's gonna work great Terry. Been shielding guitars that way for a long time. And copper is a better shield all around. I know there's lots of conductive paint fans out there but I got some advice from John Suhr a long time ago - your paint better be fresh or it won't work so well. Can open over 6 months, toss it out. I don't do enough shielding jobs to use up even a little can of conductive paint in less than 6 months. Copper, as long as it doesn't corrode in storage, lasts more or less forever.

On the shielding paint, it is fine, but expensive for what you get.
I do like it for small cavities and holes.
This foil is primarily going to be used for a complete pickup body wrap in Soapbar bass pickup covers.
So far haven't figured out how to paint pickups, or pickup coils with shielding paint?
I think that would really be a mess. lol
I too have shielded lots of guitars, with many methods.
I look forward to eperimenting with the thin foil tape.

Which is the same tape, for the same price, from the same supplier, that I just purchased.
Except buying it from ebay, I'm purchasing it through amazon.com.
I've had very good luck dealing with Amazon, and I don't have to deal with individual sellers, or ebay.

That tape is a little less than two inches, in width.
3 inch would be 7.62cm.
It jumps in price a lot the wider you go.
ebay is fine if you want to buy that way, and I'm not advertising against it!
It is just not for me at this stage in my life. Same with paypal.
Also I don't want to give my CC # to someone in HongKong.
Right now I'll stick to Amazon! I think I did OK, The Deed is done, I'll Live with it.

The 3 inch copper foil tape came in today.
The Amazon free shipping is great.
The tape looks as advertised, and should be just what I need.
I will test the conductive adhesive, when I get to using it.
It came with shrink wrap around the roll, in a plastic bag, in a nice packaged box.
I unwrapped it, looked it over, then put it in a 1 gallon ziplock bag. (per Chuck H)
I squeezed all the air out of the bag.
I'm going to keep it in my desk drawer in my house, not in the shop at this time.

This foil is great, and so easy to use.
It is so easy to solder and piece together.
If you peel some back off, you can use that later to tie things together by soldering.
I don't know what I did without it!
