  • Any winders in the Portland, OR area?

I'm interested in learning how to wind pickups. I'm in West Linn, OR (a 'burb just south of portland). Are there any winders (hobby/prof/etc) that would be open to letting me check out some of the basics? I all ready own the Lollar pickup book and I've been researching online a ton. I just learn better by seeing it done in front of me.

    Thanks!

    Welcome Timius:
There is a lot of Youtube vids that show how to wind.
That is how most of us have learned and reading all the StewMac instruction manuals.
Also there is lots of stuff in the Resources thread.

I doubt that any pro winders will want to train any competition.
I'm in Arkansas so too far for me to show you around.

Yes, hobby winders is a cool title, but most here, even hobbyist sell pickups.
That makes everyone careful what they share.
I threw that in there so you would understand the pickup building community mentality!

Everything you need to know to learn how to wind is available through this forum. And if you have Jason Lollar's "Basic Pickup Winding and Complete Guide to Making Your Own Pickup Winder", you have answered the "where do I start" question, as it is one nice 70 page summary.

                  Enjoy the journey.
