building a winder

im rounding up some parts to build a winder i got a old sewing machine for the motor and footswitch and other parts , seems there's alot of proximity sensors on ebay that will ship to canada so is there any certain style to look for ,im thinkin one with the nut near the end would be easy to mount in a hole ,maybe it would be a good idea to to find one with wire attached but i never built one so im just guessing
