I picked up a little Oreck air purifier at a garage sale. I use it in the music room. Hey, not everybody likes the smell of dust burning off power tubes!
Of course, since I picked it up used, I wanted to make sure it was working correctly (not that I know anything about air purifiers). I cleaned all the filters, and decided to test the voltage on the plate section (the bug zapper part). 630 volts DC. I'm glad I was using test clips on my voltmeter rather than just sticking my hands in there and probing around. Let me repeat that... 630 volts DC.
I guess I was just surprised that the most innocent-looking little piece of equipment in my music room also runs at the highest voltage.
