Folks,
Just returned from a local Wed. morning flea market and picked up as few "splatter screens" for a frying pan. These are a hoop of metal a bit over 12" in diameter and screen in the middle. I've used these in the past for a "grill" over a 12" speaker and they really work great! A cobbled up brackets and you can protect a speaker and the metal screening seems to be pretty darn acoustically "transparent." When I make a cabinet it's out of Baltic birch and I like a "ever so slight" stain so I find a cloth over the entire front unnecessary and distracting from the wood - these screens meet my needs and they were only $1 a piece.

Oh, "QAD" is "quick and dirty" for those who've not worked with engineers.
