Just the magnet and coil, no 'typical' frame, or surrounds...
'outside' basically states the preference, where the moving element can be seen, and it's 'movement structure' [like what the surround accordians would do but totally different and outside']...can be manipulated without being embedded inside the cardboard cone etc.

A speaker coil/magnet but not a speaker.
doesn't even have to have the shape of a speaker coil, in fact that shape IIUC requires speaker surrounds for coil alignment...I don't really want that, I want a coil which is maybe outside of a permanent magent, where I can make the alignment-movement structure.
For a dummy load design which tosses the typical speaker coil in magnet circle-slot out, opting for a more 'external' coil which can be...worked with.
