Schematic for AXL Akita AT20 or AT30 hybrid amp? The local GC has the 20 watt version.* What I've been able to find is that the Clean channel preamp is SS while the Dirty channel uses one gain stage of the 12AX7 (the other gain stage is the driver for the output tubes- EL84s for the AT20,* 6L6GC for the AT30.)
The Clean channel sounds great but it dirties up too much with the volume above 5. If it uses an op amp I imagine that lowering the resistance in the NFB and increasing it further down the line might help,* perhaps with a switch to toggle between Extra Clean and stock.
The Dirty channel is just plain ugly to my ears. Perhaps changing the plate,* cathode and grid resistors might help. (With a tube stage you can always start with the pins to reverse engineer it.)
Heck,* if I screw it up I can always bring it back within 45 days!*
