Hey David i have a spool of wire that kind of dry when i'm winding (It kind of squeaks as it goes through the felt tensioner) & the result is a tighter coil than i'd like. i was thinking about...
I've been also looking for a better source for springs , most you find are 1" like in the that link but finding them 1-5/8" /40mm is tough
I wonder how good of a job you can do with one of those cheap 3-D printers
The outer 43 gauge is shorted to the inner coil or just several shorts in the 43 gauge .I have had some very strange readings with 43 gauge wire . but it is usually cause I've stretched the wire &...
.High output Humbucker or ...i wonder about goldfoil pickups
44 gauge wire with double build wire which is same diameter as awg 43 . feel free to comment ..
I got a set here in my personal Wolfgang that I don't really want to disassemble them ,they are quite clear sounding for such an hot pickup . PM me if you don't want to in public .
I haven't potted a cover in some time ,I use dab of Dap Kwik Seal .
Beef up the Jazz pickups output by start winding with smaller wire or finishing with smaller wire like 43 gauge so you will have to change & join wires half way through the wind .
The JM is a pretty tough pickup to do starting out.
Some PAF's have rusty Keepers
I'm using water based finish to dip my bobbins in & the ink is not holding up as it gets cloudy . Have not used nitro in years for bobbins . i will have to try it after they are wound & see it it...
Just so you know I've never ever seen a brand of humbucker where the coils were not wound in the same direction & with either Finish ends connected together or the start ends.
These bobbins are heavily flawed ...................
Don't scrap that pickup for the reason you didn't sand the insulation off well enough . it my be a longshot but you can remove the finish from Plain enamel wire with the hot tip from the iron by...
Good luck with that ,i have hundreds of covers here from china that don't fit American spec flatwork or just too cheap quality .just a little too tight to sit as it should causing the pickup to be...
I recently sourced a white ink stamp & tried putting my logo on my flatwork before lacquer dipping & after it came out of the lacquer it was smeared too much to pick it out . i will try after...
You can still see some of the dark goo on the grey fiber from the laser cutter ....I'd say FAKE .
I rewound the stock p-90 set that was in my 2011 les Paul . the bobbins were soft & not rigid as i thought & with no flare .
I'm looking for a good source for 52mm humbucker bobbins with more of the PAF dimensions .most of the 52mm bobbins i've tried have small slug holes & they have cracked when i potted them . I have...
Are the bobbins textured ? & is there an another unused lead wire hole in the bottom of the baseplate ? pics please !!!
I wax pot pickups all the time that is superglued together with never any problem .
If your stretching the wire you will see higher dcr reading .
You da man Pepe !!!!.
Anyone got a source/machinist to get keeper bars made in bulk ? please PM me :)
lol .........As if I didn't wind a 1000 pickups ............Just curious without doing a bunch of research ......First thing i thought would be to use bigger wire which i have ......
Whats the deal with this pickup ? low output 5+k
