Sorry, I totally forgot about this thread. I've had to stick the amp on a back shelf as life events have taken over. Thanks for your input, I'll ring back up when / if I think I'm...
Okay Nick. Thanks--I'll check them when I get home--hopefully this weekend.
Thanks Nick. Right. Sorry I didn't post the v/h scales. I would do that now, but I'm 1000 miles away from my o-scope :)
I really just looked at it qualitatively and could see that the curvy...
Pretty "lucky" so far, I scoped TP134 and TP147 (below) so I pulled T901 and verified one of the primaries open. Will order, install, and see what's next.53384
Replaced C917--now its got 14.4VDC across it (gnd to TP 143).
I don't fully understand what this thing is doing, so its kinda fun to try to figure it out. Wish they had the TP expected voltages...
Nick--thanks. I dont mean to waste anyone's time, and sincerely appreciate the help. I was just trying to follow etiquette by posting the request in the right place. I did that before you responded...
No sir; I am not ;)
Any chance you've got the CDi 1000 schematic? I may take a look at it while I'm waiting for parts for the other one. Thanks!
Hey Nick (or anyone else) if you happen to have the CDi 1000 schematic I may pry it open too while waiting for parts.
Schematics / service manual anyone?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks Nick--I'm hopeful this is all...we'll see...the 470uf cap is listed as 35V, biggest one I could find laying around was 25V, so I went ahead and ordered a handful of them. I'll stick it in...
So, for better or worse, I've decided to take a simple shot at fixing this thing. I started with the CTS600, because it doesn't have an "i" in its name :) I'll save the CDi 1000 for later, maybe......
Haha, my drummer says: All that does is make stuff loud? Shouldn't you just turn it into, you know, a time machine or something?
Thanks Nevetslab--I found the full service manual, but the site here says its to big for me to upload. Hey, at least it'll fit in the rack! Hollow it out and make a tray... :)
Thanks Nick--I found a bad electrolytic cap, so *maybe* that'll be it. I haven't replace it yet.
Thanks Chuck! Do those concerns generalize to other parts outside of amplifiers? I think you're saying that components need to be within tighter tolerances because its so "exotic / high performance"...
So after a brief hiatus to study jazz guitar, I'm back at it fixing stuff for people. I got two graveyard-dead Crown amps, and before I do anything, I thought I'd ask for some...
Thank you sir!
Hi--anyone have a better scan of the Ampeg VT-60? There are some subtle "gotcha's" between the VT-120 and the VT-60--important ground scheme differences, at least in the way mine is built, and the...
Wow. I guess I've just had a totally skewed personal sample, or never really paid attention. Don't remember ever having an amp that had volume control that was purely based on preamp gain. You...
This is just baffling me. Why does Peavey (or anyone else) make guitar amps that have effects loops (or preamp out, power amp in or whatever), that don't have power amp volume control or what you...
Anyone have a schematic / service manual for a Multivox MXD-5?
Thank you in advance for any help at all.
Hello all, this is always a fascinating topic. I think you still need to reverse the polarity because there is overlap on the A and D strings.
Here's how I think about it:
You wire the pickup...
Just getting back--thanks for the help guys.
