I think sometimes we fool ourselves and think of Version X, Version Y, etc, but when these things were being hand built in fairly low quantities there was...

Harman Kardon Galaxy BA-150
Picked up this boat anchor for cheap today. Anyone have a schematic? I would assume the Galaxy 75 would be the same amp with 2x 8417 instead of 4x.

Not with the repair itself, but definitely some that had fixer's remorse after spending too much to get a "free" amp working only to find it really...

My bad, I was thinking of the 4xxx two spring tanks which are longer. BTW, I am a big fan of these amps, at least for cleans. I've had probably five Performers...

AB763 clone - noisy first stage
Working on a homebrew bass amp with the preamp based on blackface Showman Vibrato channel (but without the bright cap). I'm getting about 500mVpp of white...

The 3 spring tanks are shorter than the 2 spring, you can probably use either. Sometimes the shorter tanks are easier to mount in the cabinet far enough away...

While it is technically irrelevant, most players think about "how loud is my amp when I set the Volume at X?" in terms of the output power of their...

Curious what others say on this since this isn't my area. Only talking about clean signal, it seems like a 12at7, which has a gain of 70 compared to 100 for...

I use old space heaters as resistive loads, the kind with wire heating elements and fans. I get them at thrift stores for a few bucks. I've found that a 1500W...Last edited by glebert; 03-26-2024, 09:42 PM.

I'm sure others more expert than me will chime in, but to me

Garnet Pro 600 Super schematic?
Have one of these rare beasts on my bench for a retube, but it hasn't been powered on in a decade. Would love to know what I might be getting into.

Before I took out the cathode resistors I would probably try jumping or tacking power resistors in parallel. By lowering the cathode resistance in a few steps...

How far negative does the grid bias control go? Seems like you are at -81V equivalent to be at 50% dissipation....

Can't share a schematic (it's at the shop and don't think I'd be authorized to anyway, the manager is kind of uptight) but if you have a failed resistor I...

I've tried a few different ways to cut round holes, including routers and jigs. What works best for me is cutting the hole slightly undersized with jigsaw....
