When you say it couldn't take it, what happened ?...

Nice !!
Wondering how it would look like with diodes too. And also 6L6s :-)...

Does a DR really sag though? I think the 6v6 pair would barely tickle the very efficient 5U4.
A GZ34 would possibly just what you need. The extra...

Hot Rod Deluxe III - looking to make 2 bias check points
I have a pair of old GE 6L6 tubes that I dropped in the amp, but my infrared temp meter shows a huge difference between each, making me think they're really...

Another example of not just bypassing the EQ but adding caps:

Why does the Tone Wicker Big Muff have a 2.2uf in front of the EQ ?
There's a million pages/threads covering how to do the tone bypass mod, from lifting C8 and R5 or just going around completely, but none of the mods suggest...Last edited by Iplayloud; 05-26-2022, 07:20 PM.

The reason I'm asking is the amp could use some extra high-end clarity treble. If these were only there to reduce noise (while also killing treble) I would...

Should I remove capacitors after power transistors?
I have a Fender FM65dsp and right at the end of the circuit, before the speaker output, there's tiny disc capacitors between the white wire and ground, and...

Oh ok I had the wrong assumption that the signal sine wave inverted each time it went through a capacitor, that the cap created an inverted copy of the signal....

Why does a bright cap even work ?
This is a noob question but let's say a bright cap sitting on a volume pot (like the 47pf cap on a BF Deluxe Reverb) why does it let high frequecies pass...

Yeah.. the circuit looks so much more similar to a Plexi.. what was I thinking. Ok yes a different EQ design and PI differences but the final sound is in...

If we go back to the elephant in the room with this amp, being the completely missing 3rd gain stage (versus a Deluxe Reverb). How terrible was that idea...

Oh I'm not seriously considering putting a transistor there. I just meant, might as well because with a plate voltage that low, that reverb is going to sound...

Great info, thx! It's been recapped already. Speaker swapped too. Seems like alot of people have owned one but then passed it along. I think they're very...Last edited by Iplayloud; 04-17-2020, 03:59 PM.

Traynor YGM-3 design issues?
I don't think these still need introduction, you can't live in Canada without stumbling into old Traynor amps left and right. Pawn shops, etc..

Ok if I recap a 8uf bias cap with 47uf ? (Traynor YGM-3)
I'm recapping this old Traynor YGM-3 that was motorboating terribly and I'm all done except for the first bias cap C27 right after the diode. In this lockdown...

Thanks for all the answers. Ok I should have mentioned I'm not a noob haha. Sometime I write on forums and feel like I come straight from another planet....

Iplayloud started a topic A tube amp sounds darker if you put a higher load right? Same for SS amps?in Guitar AmpsA tube amp sounds darker if you put a higher load right? Same for SS amps?
You how for example if you put a 16 ohm speaker in a 8 ohm amp, it will sound a bit dark. Is it the same for ss amps? Reason is I installed a 16 ohm speaker...

If we compare with the Fender AB763 (BF) range which you guys most certainly know by heart.. and on which the YGM are clearly based. Look at the 1st gain...
