Assuming it does this with the power tubes installed, try it without the power tubes OUT...uninstalled, to determine if the power tube's screens shorted...

Ground your power cord's wire all by itself and make it the longest of the three power cord wires so it is the last to come off the chassis if it gets yanked...

If you are worried about the stock diodes and you want to use the 2Kv diodes, see if you can strap a 5 watt 470 ohm resistor across the speaker jack leads...

By the way... the classic 50's way those Fender transformers were made "IS" with the ground lead soldered right to the OT's channel mount band.

Roland has replaced odd TD parts for me at very reasonable prices..... so I'd ask and see what happens before trying to figure it out the hard way.
