  • Capacitor Substitution

Having a hard time finding some of the mylar caps needed for a build. .05/.005uf @ 600v to be specific. Anyone know of suppliers or are there substitutions I can make that won't affect tone or safety? Is it necessary to use mylar caps? Any help would be appreciated.

There have been many past discussions about capacitor types.
Many builders that visit here like to use the Mallory 150 type.
You can see the 630V ones that one supplier (Mouser) carries at:
    http://www.mouser.com/catalog/628/672.pdf
Note that .05 and .005 uf are not standard modern values so we end up using the .047uf and .0047uf.

Thanks again, Tom. I've been out of component level electronics for 15 years and just don't trust my memory yet. One day I'll relearn what I've forgotten and be less of a pain.
